Elite Open Day 2 - West Palm 2010
Wednesday, 03 March 2010 20:27
Sunday morning proved to be a much better day weather wise, well... Except for the wind that was gusting about. The skies were blue and the temp was crispy, perfect racing weather! The 26 rider Pro field was cut down to about 19, so the racing was a bit tighter than on Saturday. When the semi was posted if you were from the USA you were in one group, while the rest of the Euros and South Americans were in the other. That was a bit weird to say the least...Main time! When the gate hit the deck for the Pro Men, Steven Wong Pulled the biggest holeshot! Coming into the first turn, he had CJ McGuire hot on his tail, followed by Tyler Faoro and Jonathan “Mosquito” Suarez. Faoro railed the turn and snuck past McGuire into turn two with Wong pedaling for all he was worth. Mosquito laid it down after passing McGuire for .5 seconds and Jonathan Villa snuck by into 3rd. Going into the third turn Faoro was able to slide it inside of Wong and take the lead. Faoro held off a brief last ditch effort by Wong, Villa put on a last straight charge on Wong to sneak by for second, sending Wong back to third.
